Grant Proposal

For my grant proposal, I would like to set up a 5k walk/run for LIRS. I was recently involved in a 5k walk for the Hydrocephalus Association which included the walk itself along with tables set up for crafts, food, people from the organization to talk about hydrocephalus, toys and games, etc. LIRS could work together with Stevenson and host a 5k walk/run at the Greenspring campus where the cross country track is. People that attend from LIRS could give those attending the event more information about the organization. Those who volunteer to walk/run in this event could donate to the organization. This 5k walk/run would not only bring awareness about LIRS to others, but also donations from those volunteering in the event to help the nonprofit.

  1. Why you think this is a winning idea: This event is a winning idea because its gets Stevenson students active and aware about LIRS organization.
What appeals to you most about working on this project: What appeals to me most about working on this project is organizing the 5k and creating more activities for people to do that do not want to participate in the 5k. The role I would like to play is project manager.

  2. I like this idea because 5Ks are very popular for different causes and lots of people sign up to participate. What appeals to me the most is that people can enjoy their experiences learning about LIRS while also being active. The role I would like to play is Lead Writer/ Researcher.

  3. I like the idea because I think it’s a great way to have the Stevenson community participate in an event that not only benefits LIRS, but also makes them become physically active since walking/running is good for your health. This is what also appeals to me the most. I think I would be the Lead Writer/Researcher for this project.

  4. I really enjoy this idea because it will definitely allow more donations to the LIRS community by not only Maryland residents, yet Stevenson students as well. I also enjoy the fact it will be at Stevenson Greenspring campus, because not only is it a beautiful campus, it will allow Stevenson students to make more connections to non-profit organizations. I would like to be communication specialist for this grant, to make sure the event gets all correlated from both parties.

  5. I think that this is a great idea to do. I think that this is a winning idea because it is getting the community together to support the LIRS. I would like to take the role of marketing because I would like to promote and show off this awesome event.

  6. 5ks are definitely cheap to organize, and easy to get behind. But this doesn’t seem to be a very difficult or monetarily expensive event to do, so it may not even need a grant to create.

  7. I think that this idea is something that Stevenson can do while also raising awareness about the organization and their cause. The grant money would go a long for this event and it can also be one annually which I believe would be an important aspect the deciding team or the grant could do. As for my role, I am not entirely sure what I could o to partake in this proposal.
