Form Tackling and Concussion Protocol

My target audience with this VR product is current and soon to be football players. There have been have been many stories over the years involving players becoming paralyzed during football games and having their lives changed forever. Football is a very dangerous game, but there are ways to teach form tackling to new and current players. currently what is being done is coaches are teaching players during practice to keep their heads up and tackling with their chest and bringing your hips through. However, when it is taught this way, practicing this form can be hard to do in game speed, because there is either a tacking dummy or an actual person portraying another player. When it’s another player being the tackling dummy you can’t run full speed into them or they will be hurt, and the tackling dummy just isn’t the same as tackling someone in a game. I believe that by making a VR tackling product it will be a lot easier to teach athletes how to tackle with the correct form. I think what would help would be a VR app or game that puts you in a football game setting. There will be multiple interactive levels that you can advance through with each form form tackle you can execute. What also goes with poor form tackling is concussions. Concussions are becoming more and more common in the game off football today. This also has to do with poor tackling. Luke Keuchly is an all-pro linebacker for the Carolina Panthers and one of the best players in the game. He has suffered multiple concussions in his career so far and the usually stem from when he takes a blow to the head. Whether is is helmet to helmet or if it is a knee to the helmet, a blow to the head can result in a concussion. The VR form tackling app will teach players to keep their heads up and not put their heads down like most players commonly do. I believe that with this app, many players can save their careers and live a better life after football.

  1. I like that you are trying to target the players themselves because they are the ones doing the tackling. One thing that you could have inside of the app is what happens to your brain and what goes on in your brain when you get a concussion. Some other thing that you might want to add is some statistical facts about concussions.

  2. 1) Its good to teach others the correct technique for tackling
    2) Would this game have to be played outside? Is the person on the VR actually moving around to learn the proper technique?
    3) Good used of evidence by using an actual player.

  3. 1. Like how you could experience playing football
    2. Could have added a picture of a football or a football player.
    3. Added statics about football players and their injuries.

  4. I do not like football because i simply do not understand it. so i like that this can teach people like me to help understand some aspects of football.

Will they use the gloves? like how will they interact in the vr?

I think more evidence about what goes wrong when tackling can help.

  5. 1. It is good for learning how to tackle and injury prevention.
    2. How concussion can effect people long term.
    3. The evidence provided is enough to support the VR.

  6. 1. I like this idea because it teaches those who are not fans of football the real deal of football.
    2. Specific injuries that can have a long term effect.
    3. Statistics

  7. This training is very important and a very controversial topic right now. You have a clear audience of players, coaches, and parents. I could see schools and teams investing in this application. Make sure you avoid contractions in academic writing, and cite your sources!
