Would the monster have followed his promise?

Victor starts thinking in the lab one day about the creation of the monster’s  mate. What if the monster and the mate didn’t get along? What if they could have children? Questions like these lead Victor to abandon his promise with the monster. This makes the monster greatly upset causing the monster to kill victor’s close family and friends.

If Victor had made the monster a mate do you think they would have gotten along? Do you think that the promise would have been kept by the monster if they didn’t get along?

  1. I feel that if Victor had made the monster a mate then they would have gotten along because they knew they would be the only ones who would accept each other. I feel that the monster would have kept his promise because despite having aggressive morals he has a strong sense of integrity and he has always kept his word so far.

  2. I think the monster would have kept his promise if the mate proved satisfactory. The creature has not been shown to be dishonest in any way, and there is no reason to assume he would suddenly become so.
However, this would not have eased his relationship with Frankenstein any. If anything, Frankenstein would be even more anxious about the monster, fearing the day that he and his mate decide to revisit humanity and wreak havoc. However, perhaps through communication, the two could reconcile a great deal. Frankenstein was able to have a fairly long conversation with him before, and his morbid curiosity might have led to more.

  3. I believe that they would have gotten along because they would have had a mutual understanding of each others thoughts and emotional processes. I think that even if they were able to reproduce it gives the monster chances to learn and adapt with others that are like him. It is better to be given the opportunity for change than to be told that it could happen and never being given the chance. If Frankenstein was going to make the monster a make he shouldn’t have told the monster about it.
