What do you want? How bad do you want it? What will you give up for it?

The entrepreneurship career panel was an excellent experience. The panel featured John Dinkel of Dinkel Business Development, Chris Daley of Whirlaway, Andrew Murphy of Flying Frog Publishing, Elizabeth Trimm of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Andy Brown of Eat Pizza, and Garrett Pfeifer of Maryland Brand Management. For the first segment the panel was asked questions which they had to answer based of experience. The second part of the night allowed for mingling between the panelists and guests. Of the advice the panelists gave what stuck out the most to me was a quote Andrew Murphy said, “What do you want? How bad do you want it? What will you give up for it?”. It’s very important when pursuing ventures to have a drive and sitting down to ask these questions will help determine how serious one really is about starting a career.

The event related to our course and my field because everyone touched on sacrifice. In digital publishing especially with our course taking a stance with a hot topic such as immigration could prohibit one from working with other clients who may not agree with this point of view. Although this is the case if it is important then one has to accept the fact they will potentially not be able to work with organizations with the opposite stance. One truly has to ask themselves “What will you give up for it?”, even if it means other clients and in our case this sacrifice is worth it.
