136 Hilarious Posts About College That Will Make You Laugh, Then Cry

This post reminds me of every group project I had with in these pass four years. Especially my last semester, I had about 3 group projects. All of those group projects I did all the group work. I only did it because I knew my grade depended on it. If you were to ask me what those assignments were on, I could not be able to tell you. Do not get me wrong, I have had good groups in the past who were all very responsible. But the bad tends to stick out more than the good.

College Life: Fuck this Shit

“Fuck this shit, just kidding I need to pass.” https://memesbams.com/college-memes/

I chose this meme because I feel that it accurately reflects my college experience. Sometimes, in college when assignments get difficult, or they aren’t explained well by professors it can be frustrating. And that frustration can lead to you wanting to quit or give up. I have literally been in this same position as the man in the comics, throwing papers to the ground in anger ready to just give up and say “fuck it, I don’t even care anymore.” Only to come rushing back to the assignment moments later because I need to get a good grade and I don’t want to fail. Because, if I fail, then I have to repeat the class, and potentially stay in college longer, which I really don’t want to do. Like, I really, don’t want to do.

This post depicts my college experience at Stevenson University. So often during research, I will find a site that I want to use in research and then find out that it is unreliable. I have often heard professors tell people that Wikipedia is not a reliable source. When I saw this image it reminded me of many professors’ classes. As a teacher candidate myself, I have come to find that Wikipedia is not reliable when students have questions about the information. Therefore, it was an accurate depiction of Stevenson student and teacher life, as well as an accurate depiction of how unreliable a source can be if anybody can change information or add it to a source. Nobody wants to rely on a site that can be changed and added to by strangers. The people that are manipulating the site may not be experts on the matter being discussed on the page. I for one have told to be cautious because one should not rely on an unscholarly, unverifiable source when they are working hard to compile their work that will go towards their degree.

College Life Meme

I think this is an accurate representation of how college life is, especially as a Nursing major. Last semester was very chaotic for a few of my friends and I because we had an anatomy class. The workload with all of the information we had to learn combined with the other classes we had to do work for was so overwhelming. We kind of had to internalize a lot of the panic we were experiencing and still actively go to class and try to function as a normal human being. Of course, our previous semesters were difficult as well, but none of that could have prepared us for the amount of material anatomy gave us. However, despite the trauma we endured learning all of the bones and all of the parts of them, this class definitely prepared us for classes like Pathophysiology we would have to take next school year. It is slightly terrifying, but this dog in the meme shows how we cope with our hardships in these classes.

College Student

“Might fuck around and procrastinate.” Instagram. Accessed Jan.2020. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2rWL98FGJm/?igshid=tx4j3bvpmf7

‘College Student’ is a twitter account that primarily posts tweets in reference to the college experience and struggles. This tweet in particular highlights the tendency of many college students to procrastinate. I definitely deem this post to be accurate as procrastinating, to some extent, is a part of my daily routine as a college student. Especially considering the overwhelming and seemingly never ending to do list that comes with being a student. Although procrastinating  only delays the inevitable whilst halting productivity, it is sometimes needed to take a break and regroup later (whenever that will be). Seen in this tweet is the viral dance ‘woah’, which can be applied to nearly any context. Whether it being done randomly or with a statement.

Commuter Life

If teachers could send emails before leaving for class THAT'D BE GREAT

I commute about thirty minutes to get to Stevenson and sometimes it is only for one class. I relate to this meme because this has happened to me several times throughout my college career. When I attended Howard Community College, also about thirty minutes from my home, I had a teacher email us ten minutes before class started that she was cancelling class. Last semester, I drove here for one class on Greenspring and the professor did not show up. Not only is it a big waste of time for me to drive here and back for nothing, it also eats up gas in my car. I feel like a lot of professors just assume that all students in their class live on campus. It was my choice to commute, but it still would be nice if more professors took that into consideration when planning or cancelling their classes.

First Day of Class

An annoyed facial expression when the professor asks you to "state your name, major, and a fun fact about yourself."
A meme that shows how many college students react when the professor tells the students to talk about themselves to the class.

“30 Funny College Memes.” Funny Memes Weird Funny Pictures, 22 Sept. 2019, https://hashtag3r.com/30-funny-college-memes/.

On the first day of most of my college classes, the professor will go around the room asking students to introduce themselves. This meme shows the typical facial expression students exhibit when the professor says, “Please state your name, major, and a fun fact about yourself.” I relate to this meme because I dread the usual first day of school icebreaker activities. These are nervewracking to me because I do not even know a fun fact about myself!Additionally, it becomes very redundant and annoying when you have to do this several times every semester. It is even worse when you have to do this for a class for your major because you usually know everyone in the class already. Although I understand professors want to get to know their students, I would be thrilled to never do another icebreaker ever again.

College Life Meme

“Every group project in school you have ever done.” Paperwritings.com. Accessed Jan. 2020. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/458874649508022501/?lp=true

I chose this meme because it illustrates the roles that many in group work take on. Also, it embodies why I usually strongly dislike group school work. In college, I thought the group work scenarios would be different. . . But I was completely wrong. It actually got worse. Because we’re in college, professors expect a level of professionalism and feel it’s common sense for everyone in the group to collaborate together. They’re treating us like adults, but, those who slack off really slack off or don’t contribute at all. Every role described in the meme is exactly how it happens. One person does all the work and tries to facilitate tasks and rally everyone together, another person doesn’t pay attention in class to contribute anything valuable, the other person might have good intentions to contribute but doesn’t for some reason (perhaps they’re swamped with other work or are shy etc.), and the other just shows up at the end to receive the group points. Sadly, I’m the person who always ends up doing most of the work. I hope I experience a good and productive group work scenario one day.

“Aaaand Your Total for the 2 Books Is Going to Be $2129020 I Have SS Buying College Books | Books Meme on Ballmemes.Com.” Ballmemes.Com, https://ballmemes.com/i/aaaand-your-total-for-the-2-books-is-going-to. Accessed 27 Jan. 2020.

This meme shows the extremely high prices of textbooks versus how much students actually have to spend on them. In my experience, I have had my share of professors who assign multiple textbooks and only really use a chapter or two from each book. I have had textbooks that were less than $20 and I have had textbooks that are over $200. With the prices of textbooks varying it is hard for the average student to accurately budget for textbooks. Most students have student loans helping you with the cost of higher education but often you don’t get a loan high enough for the cost of books. A large chunk of students chose to risk it and not purchase the textbooks and hope that the professor never actually uses them. By doing this they are risking their grade in the class just because of the price of the textbook.

Citation Tips

Reece Simpson tapping his head with text above reading: "Don't cite Wiki, Cite sources from wiki"
A relatable meme that is a work around to finding citations when you don’t want to cite wikipedia.

I find this relatable because I have used this method to help me with research papers. Since wikipedia can be used by anyone many teachers don’t find it reliable but the sources used by editors on wikipedia can be reliable so it is a great work around.
