Relateable Meme

This meme has accurately represented my experience so far in college. My teachers have definitely underestimated my power and other people’s power in the classes as well. Procrastination is real, and I work well under pressure and under a time crunch.  I consider myself a good writer, and writing seems to flow easily for me. I recently have had teachers that have said this, and I end up doing the essay the night before and finishing it by the due date. Usually when I get the essays back, I ended up getting the same grade as the ones I write a couple days before it’s due so it seems to work for me. I’ve stayed up until the early hours typing papers before, and it isn’t the most fun but I still am able to get the job done.

College Life Meme

People go to the library only to sit on their phone.

I chose this meme because it accurately represents myself.  Whenever I try and be productive, I always find myself sitting on my phone instead of doing my work.  I have been exactly like this meme, sitting down trying to get things done, as organized as possible, but still being on my phone the entire time.  Procrastinating can be a really issue for me because I definitely like to get things done as early as possible.  I would rather do work when I know that I have plenty of time to ask any questions than do it at the last minute.  I know that this is also the case for a lot of my friends as well.  We will try to work on homework together but end up spending most of the time on our phones or talking than actually getting any work done.

I chose this meme because I really related to it. One night I pulled an all-nighter that consisted of leaving the reading room at 1 am and then finishing the paper at 5am in the common area of my dorm room. When I went to class the next day the teacher said she would push the due date back a week for everyone that was in class that day. I didn’t know if I should have felt relieved that I could spend more time on it or frustrated that I stayed up all night for basically no reason. All in all I got an A on the paper and hopefully never have to pull another all nighter!

I chose this image for the humor of it and the way it relates to my life when I came to college. When I came into school as a freshman I was 21 years old which can be quite a few years older than most incoming students. On the first day of class this meme depicts the way it felt for me in a humorous way. Although everyone around me was still a young adult, someone around me who was 18 or 19 felt like they were someone who was still in junior high. I felt out of place for a while and I’ll never forget the reactions of other students when I would tell them I was a 21 year old freshman. When they would hear my age the assumption was immediately that I was a senior who for some reason was in a freshman level class. I have always thought of this meme from Billy Madison as one that I can relate to and my first college experience.

Catch 22

I picked  this meme because it did a great job of portraying how I felt when I started looking for jobs in my field now that I’m close to graduating. Almost every single entry level position requires years of experience. The only way to gain significant experience is by working unpaid internships. Unfortunately most of us can’t  pay bills working just internships. That leaves us with very little options on what to do after college. Either get a job that is not even remotely close to your field of study, or go all in and  go to graduate school, risk it all and just postpone the inevitable mountain of debt that you put yourself in because there was a time you believed life would be easy.

136 Hilarious Posts About College That Will Make You Laugh, Then Cry

This post reminds me of every group project I had with in these pass four years. Especially my last semester, I had about 3 group projects. All of those group projects I did all the group work. I only did it because I knew my grade depended on it. If you were to ask me what those assignments were on, I could not be able to tell you. Do not get me wrong, I have had good groups in the past who were all very responsible. But the bad tends to stick out more than the good.

College Life: Fuck this Shit

“Fuck this shit, just kidding I need to pass.” https://memesbams.com/college-memes/

I chose this meme because I feel that it accurately reflects my college experience. Sometimes, in college when assignments get difficult, or they aren’t explained well by professors it can be frustrating. And that frustration can lead to you wanting to quit or give up. I have literally been in this same position as the man in the comics, throwing papers to the ground in anger ready to just give up and say “fuck it, I don’t even care anymore.” Only to come rushing back to the assignment moments later because I need to get a good grade and I don’t want to fail. Because, if I fail, then I have to repeat the class, and potentially stay in college longer, which I really don’t want to do. Like, I really, don’t want to do.

This post depicts my college experience at Stevenson University. So often during research, I will find a site that I want to use in research and then find out that it is unreliable. I have often heard professors tell people that Wikipedia is not a reliable source. When I saw this image it reminded me of many professors’ classes. As a teacher candidate myself, I have come to find that Wikipedia is not reliable when students have questions about the information. Therefore, it was an accurate depiction of Stevenson student and teacher life, as well as an accurate depiction of how unreliable a source can be if anybody can change information or add it to a source. Nobody wants to rely on a site that can be changed and added to by strangers. The people that are manipulating the site may not be experts on the matter being discussed on the page. I for one have told to be cautious because one should not rely on an unscholarly, unverifiable source when they are working hard to compile their work that will go towards their degree.

I think this is an accurate representation of how college life is, especially as a Nursing major. Last semester was very chaotic for a few of my friends and I because we had an anatomy class. The workload with all of the information we had to learn combined with the other classes we had to do work for was so overwhelming. We kind of had to internalize a lot of the panic we were experiencing and still actively go to class and try to function as a normal human being. Of course, our previous semesters were difficult as well, but none of that could have prepared us for the amount of material anatomy gave us. However, despite the trauma we endured learning all of the bones and all of the parts of them, this class definitely prepared us for classes like Pathophysiology we would have to take next school year. It is slightly terrifying, but this dog in the meme shows how we cope with our hardships in these classes.

College Student

“Might fuck around and procrastinate.” Instagram. Accessed Jan.2020. https://www.instagram.com/p/B2rWL98FGJm/?igshid=tx4j3bvpmf7

‘College Student’ is a twitter account that primarily posts tweets in reference to the college experience and struggles. This tweet in particular highlights the tendency of many college students to procrastinate. I definitely deem this post to be accurate as procrastinating, to some extent, is a part of my daily routine as a college student. Especially considering the overwhelming and seemingly never ending to do list that comes with being a student. Although procrastinating  only delays the inevitable whilst halting productivity, it is sometimes needed to take a break and regroup later (whenever that will be). Seen in this tweet is the viral dance ‘woah’, which can be applied to nearly any context. Whether it being done randomly or with a statement.
